About Ajai Singh
Professor Ajai Singh, born on June 29, 1963 at Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, did his Medical Graduation (1985) and Masters of Orthopaedic Surgery (1989) from King George’s Medical College, Lucknow. He joined Department of Orthopaedics, Era’s Lucknow Medical College, Lucknow as Lecturer/Assistant Professor on 15.5.2000. After serving there and establishing the department, he joined Department of Orthopaedics, King George’s Medical University, Lucknow as Assistant Professor on 20.7.2004. Here he established and headed 25 bedded Paediatric Orthopaedic Unit as Chief Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgeon before becoming Professor, in the Department of Orthopaedics, King George’s Medical University, Lucknow in 2013. Since 2016, designated and working as Head, Dept. of Paediatric Orthopaedics, K. G. Medical University, Lucknow.First ever independent Department of Paediatric Orthopaedic in any of University has been established at King George’s Medical University, Lucknow with continued efforts of Prof. Ajai Singh. This Department has been approved and sanctioned by Government of Uttar Pradesh. It is worth to mention that this department has the mandate to start MCI approved India’s first ever super specialty course in Orthopaedics, i.e. MCh Paediatric Orthopaedics.Presently, he is also serving Superintendent cum Faculty Incharge, KGMU Hospital Revolving Fund; Vice Dean, Skills: Paediatric Orthopaedic Trauma Prevention and Management; Director, INDUSEM Academic Council for Emergency Traumatology; President, National Orthobiologic of India (NOBA); President, Indian Society of Paediatric Traumatology (ISPT); Incharge, Paediatric Trauma, Trauma Center, KGMU.Being active in academics, he published 09 books, 178 scientific research articles and several book chapters and Patents (01). To conduct research in an academic environment, Prof. Ajai Singh conducted/ supervised as Investigator/ Mentor/ Guide, Co-Guide/ Ph.d. 106 intramural and extramural research projects conducted by undergraduate and postgraduate students. He has been invited to various International and National scientific conventions to deliver over 98 Guest Lectures, demonstrated surgical procedures in many countries, presented over 318 scientific papers, attended 228 scientific conventions and Chair 29 scientific sessions during various international and national congresses/conferences, workshops/symposia. Prof. Ajai Singh served as members of Editorial Board of International / National Journals and Expert Panels. He also prepared the post graduate curriculum of teaching and training of the department of the Orthopaedics, King George’s Medical University, Lucknow. He is member of 14 professional bodies and 04 expert groups to promote translational research. Known for his commitment to patient care, academics and teaching, he put the Department of Orthopaedics, KGMU, at National and International platform and getting it recognized.To spread the scientific knowledge and to promote teaching training, Prof. Ajai Singh successfully organized many CME programs, Workshops, Symposia. For his long standing professional services excellence in research, Prof Ajai Singh received over 64 national & International Awards, Honours, Titles and Medals.Prof. Ajai Singh known nationally in the specialty as an astute Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgeon, Teacher, Academician, Researcher, Administrator, had received several offers and requests in the past to work and to move to greener pastures, but he had always preferred to offer his services in his specialty to the poorest of the poor in India that too in Uttar Pradesh with honesty, integrity, sincerity and dedication to improve the Patient care, the Undergraduate and Postgraduate teaching training, the research, the culture, the discipline, the sensitivity, the ambience, the environment, the opportunities and the facilities. It has though, been a not so long journey but with great satisfaction. Notably, all these efforts and the contributions made by Prof. Ajai Singh, have been widely recognized and highly appreciated by the colleagues, friends, faculty, staff, students and the public in general in not only our state but in India also.
