About Dr. Manoj Kumar

Dr. Manoj Kumar is currently working as Postdoctoral Fellow at Institute of Plant Sciences, Agricultural Research Organization (ARO), Volcani Center, Israel. He earned his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from CSIR-NBRI and Integral University, Lucknow, U.P., India in 2019. He was also awarded for ICMR-SRF and DBT-RA fellowship. Apart from these he worked in various projects funded by ICAR, CSIR and DST-SERB. His doctoral research focuses on identification of drought responsive genes from chickpea through transcriptome analysis and development of drought tolerant transgenic Arabidopsis and chickpea lines. He has also worked on the development of biotic stress tolerant transgenic crop plants. He has developed a good experimental hand in plant tissue culture and genetic transformation, especially of chickpea and pigeonpea, which are considered to be recalcitrant for such experiments. Dr. Kumar has expertise in cryosectioning and Laser Capture Microdissection (LCM). He is also adept at routine molecular biology techniques, such as protein extraction, ELISA, western blotting, plasmid, DNA, andRNA isolation, PCR, gene cloning, Real Time-PCR, RNA-Seq analysis, and Southern blotting. Dr. Kumar is a team-man and much liked by his colleagues. He has a pleasant personality and very good communication skills. He has published many research papers in national and international reputed peer reviewed SCI journals. Dr. Kumar was awarded for New Phytologist Trust sponsored scholarship recipient for the ASPB Plant Biology 2020 Worldwide Summit virtual conference organized by the American Society of Plant Biologists. He also received Elsevier Reviewer Recognition Award for contributing as reviewer for the Journal Environmental and Experimental Botany as well as Annals of Agricultural Sciences. Dr. Kumar is the life member of Society for Plant Biochemistry and Biotechnology (SPBB).
