About: Dr. Somsubhra Gupta

Dr. Somsubhra Gupta is presently the Dean- Faculty of Science with Director (R&D Cell) of Swami Vivekananda University Barrackpore, WB, a State Private University. Before, he was Associate Professor, AIASK, Amity University Kolkata. He was erstwhile Dean of faculty, DIT and Dean of the Academic Affairs of JIS College of Engineering, (An Autonomous Institution), Kalyani, WB. At JISCE,  he was the HOD of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering and the Department of Information Technology, over one decade before. Prior to this Institute, he was in Asansol Engineering College and MCET. He is graduated under the University of Calcutta and completed his Masters from Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur. He submitted his Doctoral Thesis and received Ph. D. award entitled “Multiobjective Decision Making in Inexact Environment using Genetic Algorithm: Theory and Applications” under University of Kalyani in the year 2013. He has 3 Completed Funded Projects as Principal Investigator / Project Coordinator, (AICTE MODROB/RPS), Editor of 2 Proceeding books, and published 3 Patents (as Inventor/applicant). He is recipient He received Research Excellence Award by NESIN, Science Father in 2020, provided Honorary Rosalind Membership by London Journal Press in 2020, Bharat Vidya Shiromani Award by the International Business Council, New Delhi, 2016 and Outstanding Faculty Award by the Centre for Advanced Research and Design (CARD), VIF Chennai in July 2015.. Four of his papers won Best Paper Awards with Colleagues/Scholars.  He was the TEQIP Coordinator / PNO-Academic of the Institution in World Bank sponsored TEQIP Phase II Subcomponent 1.2 for PG and demand-driven Research Development and Innovation during 2013-2017. He is in the Editorial Board / Technical Programme Committee of number of forums. His career objective is lifelong learning and expected outcome is an On-demand educationist. Globally, he has been selected at the rank of GSA, P4 of the United Nations Commission for Population Development (UNCPD) in the year 2010 @ 118400 US$ / anum. He was nominated by JIS College of Engineering to attend NAFSA-2013 World Conference of the International Educators during last week of May, 2013, Saint Luis, Missouri, USA addressed by eminent Nobel laureates. He also attended IEEE 10th Colloquium and Intl. Conference on Industrial and Information Systems (ICIIS)-2009, Peradeniya University, Candy, Sri Lanka during last week of January, 2009-10 as Presenter. Invited Speaker at Pride Conference on Neurology and Neuro Disorders (ICNN) 2021, Paris, France, Sept. 13th-15th 2021 and  at Trans-disciplinary Information Science (TDI) Conference (WABD) 2021 at Beijing, China, 14th March 2021. He has been in lectureship for over twenty-three years (1998 Dec onwards) and has been associated with SVU and AUK Universities, Engineering Colleges affiliated to University of Burdwan, University of Kalyani and West Bengal University of Technology. His area of teaching is Algorithm Design and allied field. He has guided 62 projects at the Graduate level (B. Tech.) and 18 dissertations at the Post Graduate Level (M. Tech.), beside 10 projects at MCA and 1 MS, some of which are published in reputed Journal /Proceedings. Presently, he has eight enrolled scholars at SVU / MAKAUT. He is supervisor / mentor to number of alumni’s successfully established in Industry and Academia globally. In research, he has around 93 publications so far in National / International Journal / Proceedings (Scopus indexed) including at Elsevier Sc., Springer, IEEE Xplore, Inder-Science, Wiley, Allied Pub., Information Institute USA etc . He is associated with research projects SPP of DST, MODROB Scheme (AICTE) in which “Machine Intelligence” Laboratory (1.1 million INR) was setup in 2008-2009. Principal Investigator / Co-Principal Investigator to couple of completed research projects funded under RPS scheme (AICTE) on “Natural Language Processor using Auto-Debugger under the framework of Machine Intelligence” and “Design and Development of a Cardiac parameter Monitoring System using common mobile phone for affordable pattern care” (over 1 million INR) during 2013-2016. His area of research interest includes Machine Intelligence, Soft Computing, Pattern Recognition in addition to Cryptography and Compilers. He was invited as session chair in the CISTM 2007 Hyderabad organized by Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), USA and CII. He was convener of the International Conference in Industry Interactive Innovations in Science, Engineering and Technology (I3SET) 2016 and International Conference on Computation and Communication advancement (IC3A)-2013 held in 11th -12th January, 2013. Also, he is Program Chair of International Conference on Advancement in Medical Electronics (ICAME-2015) and International Conference on Non-Conventional Energy (ICONCE)-2014, held on 16th -17th January, 2014 held in JIS College of Engineering both technically cosponsored by IEEE Kolkata Section. He is in the editorial Board of IJCCET. In extent, he was resource person and delivered his talk in number of leading Institutions including affiliated Colleges under WBUT. He delivered jointly the IUCEE Webinar on Mobile Learning on 19th April, 2019 organized by University of Massachusetts at Lowell. He was a presenter at 3rd World Summit (WOSA) of National Board of Accreditation (NBA), 2016. He was invited Speaker at World Congress on Microscopy (WCM-2015). He provided invited talk at ICTIEE-2106 CoE, Pune hosted by Indo-US Collaboration on Engineering Education (IUCEE). . His Professional Society activities includes various IT Corporate events like WIPRO MxLA, MS Faculty connection etc.
